52 Weeks, 52 Books

Behind But Not Out!

Thank you to those that have been reading the site on a weekly basis and now wondering where I’ve been. I fully envisioned that there would be lulls during the year when I wasn’t reading at the exact 1 book/week rate. That’s why the goal is to finish 52 books by December 31st, though I would prefer to have a review a week up here. I’ve been busy with some extra curricular activities in March including the SXSW music festival and currently a trip to Florida to watch some Spring Training baseball. I have Week 8 and 9 posts ready to be uploaded, but we’re in Week 13 of the year, meaning I’m behind for sure. Believe me, the dog days of summer will offer plenty of time for catching up. I have also been working pretty hard still and was rewarded with a promotion this past week. So while all is well and very hectic, I have not by any stretch given up the pledge. I’m currently reading a book that I started on the plane and will probably finish this weekend. Expect the 8, 9 and 10 reviews within the next four to five days.

Stay tuned for more insight!

People Need Computers!

So where is the Week 8 review, huh Paul? WHERE IS IT?!?!?! So, I admit, it’s extremely late, but Mr. Dell has instituted plenty more overtime for all leaving me with limited time. Hell, I’m even way behind in my Week 9 book! Rest assured that I’ll soon write about The Paradox of Choice, my Week 8 selection.

In other news, I got my new notebook computer!!! It’s an XPS 1210 that I bought from work and I absolutely love it. I’ve wanted a notebook for some time and finally found a great deal and took the plunge. I really like the lightweight notebooks and this one doesn’t disappoint at 4.4 lbs. The 12″ screen might bother some, but I actually love that feature and it isn’t as small as you’d think (that’s what she said… not to me, of course).

I’m getting sick of this ever-changing weather we’ve been hit with here in Austin. Hot one day, cold the next, sometimes windy, sometimes not, very cloudy, very sunny! Just pick something already, jeez!!!! March looks to be an exciting month overall with the Snow Patrol concert I’m going to, the South by Southwest music fest, college basketball’s always exciting March Madness and then my first annual trip to Spring Training in Florida at the end of the month. I’ll have a tan before June for the first time ever. Tan is a relative term here as I simply won’t be as white. With the busy schedule and mandatory overtime for the forseeable future at work, I can’t promise prompt reviews, but I’ll be checking in to report back about my exciting month.
